In the summer of 1996, I was a young woman fresh out of college and working as a waitress in New York City. I had always loved to sing and dance, and I had always dreamed of being a performer. But I didn't know how to make that happen.

One night, I went to see the musical Rent at the Nederlander Theatre. I was immediately captivated by the music, the story, and the characters. I saw myself in the characters of Mark, Roger, Mimi, and Maureen. They were all young people who were struggling to find their way in the world, just like me.

I left the theater that night feeling inspired. I knew that I wanted to be a part of something like Rent. I wanted to tell stories that would resonate with people, and I wanted to make people feel the way that Rent had made me feel.

I started taking singing and dancing lessons, and I auditioned for every musical I could find. I didn't get cast in any of them, but I didn't give up. I kept working hard, and I kept auditioning.

Finally, in 2001, I got my big break. I was cast as Mimi in a touring production of Rent. I was so excited to finally be able to perform the show that had inspired me so much.

The tour was an amazing experience. I got to travel all over the country, and I got to meet so many wonderful people. I also got to perform the show that I loved so much, and I got to make people feel the way that Rent had made me feel.

After the tour ended, I continued to perform in musicals. I've been in Broadway shows, Off-Broadway shows, and regional theater productions. I've also performed in concerts and cabarets.

I've been through a lot in my life, both good and bad. I've lost loved ones, and I've experienced heartbreak. But I've also found love, and I've made lifelong friends. And through it all, music has been my constant companion.

Music has helped me to heal, to celebrate, and to dream. And it has brought me to some of the most amazing experiences of my life.

I'm so grateful for the gift of music, and I'm so happy that I've been able to share it with others.
