A Gripping Account of the CIA's Top Spy in Afghanistan Before 9/11, and the Special Ops Warriors Who Fought Alongside Him
In the years leading up to 9/11, the CIA's top spy in Afghanistan was a man named Gary Schroen. A former Green Beret, Schroen had spent years building relationships with Afghan warlords and intelligence officers. He was one of the few Americans who had a deep understanding of the country's complex political and tribal landscape.
