Arnold Palmer was one of the greatest golfers of all time. He won 62 PGA Tour events, including seven major championships. He was also a member of the Ryder Cup team six times and captained the team twice. Palmer was known for his aggressive style of play and his charismatic personality. He was a fan favorite and helped to popularize the game of golf around the world.

Early life and career

Arnold Palmer was born on September 10, 1929, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He began playing golf at an early age and was a caddy at the Latrobe Country Club. Palmer attended Wake Forest University on a golf scholarship. He won the NCAA Championship in 1950 and 1951.

Palmer turned professional in 1954 and quickly became one of the top golfers in the world. He won his first major championship, the Masters Tournament, in 1958. Palmer went on to win the British Open in 1960 and 1961, the U.S. Open in 1960, and the PGA Championship in 1962 and 1964.

The King of Golf

Palmer was known as the "King of Golf" because of his dominance in the sport during the 1960s. He was one of the most popular golfers in the world and helped to popularize the game. Palmer was also a successful businessman and had his own line of golf equipment and clothing.

Palmer retired from competitive golf in 1976. He continued to be involved in the game as a commentator and golf course designer. Palmer died on September 25, 2016, at the age of 87.

Legacy
